Are hot tubs made to be used outdoors or indoors?
Both! You should install your hot tub wherever you think you will use and enjoy it most. Homeowners typically choose to install their hot tub outside, where they can enjoy the warm and bubbly water during cold and snowy months—a refreshing juxtaposition! However, hot tubs are also a great indoor feature, so long as you avoid hardwood, carpet, and rooms without adequate ventilation.
When can I have my hot tub installed? When can I use my hot tub?
Hot tubs can be installed year-round. As long as the roads are safe and the delivery crew is available, you can have your hot tub installed whenever you like, whether that’s during the dog days of summer or snowy Christmas time. Similarly, you can use your hot tub through spring, summer, winter, and fall; it’s made for year-round enjoyment.
Where should I have my hot tub installed?
Think long and hard before you decide where to place your hot tub. First, consider the view. Do you have enough privacy? Can you see the stars? Are you comfortable? Second, consider the path with which you’ll access the hot tub. Is the hot tub close enough to your home? Will you be comfortable walking to it in the middle of January? Third, consider the space’s support and ventilation. If you’re placing it on a deck, can the deck support the weight? If you’re placing it indoors, does the room have adequate ventilation and an appropriate flooring material? Perhaps most importantly, will the hot tub fit in your chosen space? Consider all of these factors when you choose your spa’s new home.
How often will I need to change my hot tub’s water?
Every one to six months (depending on the model you choose), you will need to drain and refill your hot tub’s water. If you choose a spa with excellent circulation and filtration, it will stay cleaner for longer without a great amount of chemicals.
Is there a lot of maintenance involved?
No. In fact, hot tubs require very little maintenance! About once or twice a week, you’ll need to check the water chemistry and add necessary chemicals. As we mentioned in the last answer, you’ll also need to change the water every few months. You’ll learn about these cleaning duties when you purchase the spa, but thankfully, they’re simple both to learn and to perform.
